PHP Developer Opportunity

Things are going at a rapid pace for the Booking Rooster team, so we are on the look-out for a PHP Developer to work with us on an upcoming project, with a view to a future long-term opportunity.  If you know someone who is dedicated to the craft, writes tidy effective code and hits the ground running, please share this with them.  They need to write elegant, effective PHP to the highest standard.  Here's our person brief:

The Opportunity:

  • The initial contract will involve 40 hours project work. 
  • Success in the initial project may lead to regular on-going contract work or open employment opportunities.
  • You would be joining small fast-paced team who are dedicated to making continuous improvement to our course and event booking software.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex client requirements to design, build, and maintain multi-tier web applications
  • Extend and maintain existing web applications. You'll need to be able to efficiently evaluate and comprehend the structure of complex bespoke content management systems and effect change in a timely and elegant manner.
  • Produce detailed specifications.
  • Work from a functionality brief to develop, test and maintain the software to ensure the product is reliable, user friendly and current.
  • Provide troubleshooting services and customer support.
  • Follow industry best practices; we expect all your code will follow best practice standards and conform to our style guidelines.
  • Develop and deploy new features to facilitate related procedures and tools if necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • A firm grip of industry best practice and understanding of Good Programming.
  • Proven software development experience in PHP to at least an intermediate level.
  • Experience in database management and at least intermediate-level SQL.
  • Some experience in a professional web development environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current web technologies and platforms including HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX etc.
  • Strong interest in developing a clear understanding of the needs of customers.
  • Experience in common third-party APIs (Google, Facebook, Xero etc).
  • Dedication to both great coding and great user experience.
